Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Common are all Chicago natives that have hit the big time. However, there are plenty more rising stars from the city that mainstream America ins't familiar with yet. Noisey dives into this underground rap scene in a new documentary.

Titled 'Chiraq,' the trailer for the eight-part doc begins with a shoot out. Vice correspondent Thomas Morton heads into the violent part of the Windy City and talks to rappers like Chief Keef and Lil Durk and producer Young Chop to get their take on the city that raised them. He also rides along with the Chicago Police Department and finds out how the Nation of Islam factors into this world as well.

This series is an extension of Vice's first look at "Chiraq" during the first season of its show on HBO. 'Chiraq' will premiere on Noisey Jan. 22.
