Two beloved artists will make their musical debut on Saturday Night Live in December. Chicago rhymer Chance the Rapper and soulful crooner Leon Bridges have been tapped as musical guests for the popular weekend sketch comedy series.

According to Billboard, Bridges will perform on SNL when Ryan Gosling hosts on Dec. 5, while Chance will rock the mic on the Dec. 12 edition with host Chris Hemsworth.

Here’s what you need to know about Leon Bridges: the 26-year-old singer has a new album called Coming Home, which is, arguably, one of the most soulful efforts in 2015. The LP is a throwback of traditional soul in the same vein as Otis Redding and Raphael Saadiq. While the music is a throwback, the lyrics are very contemporary as Bridges sings about love, heartbreak and spirituality. His introspective song, “River,” is dedicated to his Texas hometown and deserves your attention.

As for Chance the Rapper, the 22-year-old Chi-town native has been making waves in the rap game with projects like Acid Rap, Surf (with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment) and Free Based Freestyles, his fantastic collaborative mixtape with Lil B. The “Baby Blue” rapper is also a new dad and is enjoying fatherhood.

Overall, SNL made a wise choice for their musical selections in December. We can't wait to see their performances.
