Cardi B shocked her fans last week with a tweet stating that the rap star was physically assaulted by the NYPD. In a since-deleted tweet, Cardi said an officer put her in a chokehold.

“I can’t believe this cop put me on a choke hole [sic] just now s— is crazy these NY cops don’t know how to do they job F— 12,” she wrote at the time. TMZ reported that the NYPD believed Cardi's claim was bogus. NYPD Assistant Commissioner Peter Donald alleged that they can't find any proof it happened.

During an appearance on WEDR 99 Jamz, Cardi addressed the incident. In footage obtained by TMZ, she says things went off the rails after a fender-bender involving her cousin and another driver--that's when things allegedly escalated and the police officer got involved.

"So now he’s gonna square up with my cousin—now this shit gonna get real,” she explained to Felisha Monet. “And out of nowhere, a motherf---a put me in a chokehold […] like a chicken wing. I couldn’t breathe and I couldn’t believe it, because there's two men that are about to square up, but you're so p---- you won't even hold back the men. You're gonna put the female in the chokehold."

“How are you gonna find evidence when you don’t know what happened? You don’t know if it happened in the Bronx or Manhattan,” she said. “Don’t release something that you guys ‘haven’t found evidence,’ but you haven’t even talked to nobody. It’s just, like, you guys be lying. This is why I don’t talk to you guys, because you guys be lying. And I don’t f--- with y’all.”
