Cardi B may have burst onto the scene in 2015, but in was in 2017 that the New York rapper took over the music world. With her larger-than-life personality, Cardi captivated many on social media, but it was her commercial debut single, "Bodak Yellow," that really sent the rapper into the mainstream.

Breaking record after record, "Bodak Yellow" proved to be a smash hit for Cardi but it wasn't her only big moment of 2017. From nominations and awards to a public engagement with Offset from Migos, 2017 was Cardi's year.

    Offset Proposed to Her Live on Stage in Philly

    At the start of 2017, rumors of Cardi B and Offset's relationship began to spread. After teaming up on a song together, appearing in public and even going through a short breakup, the "Bodak Yellow" artist became engaged to the Migos rapper on Oct. 27 when he proposed to her on stage in Philadelphia.

    "Bodak Yellow" Broke Billboard Records

    With "Bodak Yellow" being one of the biggest songs of 2017, it was clear the song was going to break Billboard records. In September, the song peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Cardi the first female rapper since 1998 to top the chart with a solo song. The New York rapper also set another Billboard record when "Bodak Yellow" stayed at No. 1 for three weeks straight, tying Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" as the longest running female at No. 1 in 2017.

    In November, a video featuring a topless Cardi B began spreading on Twitter.     She Scooped Up Four BET Awards

    Cardi's great 2017 continued at the BET Hip Hop Awards where the rapper was nominated for a show-leading nine nominations. While it wasn't a clean sweep for Cardi, she did walk away with four awards, including, Best Mixtape, Best Hip-Hop Style, Best New Hip-Hop Artist and Single of the Year.

    "Bodak Yellow" Is Triple Platinum

    After becoming the No. 1 song in the country, "Bodak Yellow" then hit platinum status. But the sales didn't stop there. The song went on to double-platinum status and then triple. Cardi thanked her fans on Twitter, saying, "PLATINUM!!!!!! Thank you BARDIGANG, FRIENDS, Family, Radio personality, DJs, ARTIST!!!! Made it happen for me!!!"

    "Bodak Yellow" Earns Two Grammy Nominations

    Cardi B will look to cap off her 2017 in January at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. While Cardi didn't earn a Best New Artist nomination, the rapper's "Bodak Yellow" is nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. Chances are, she'll walk away with at least one win.
