Cam’ron Reveals Why Jay Z Stabbed Lance ‘Un’ Rivera in 1999 [VIDEO]
On Wednesday (June 1), the hip-hop vet went on DJ Whoo Kid's Shade 45 show, The Whoolywood Shuffle, and shared that the two were fighting over Grammy-nominated rapper Charli Baltimore (who was in a romantic relationship with the Notorious B.I.G. at the time.)
"This was all over Charli Baltimore," said Cam. “I’m not going to get into the details of what happened and why, but it’s just a lot of where Jay liked Charli at one time and that was B.I.G.'s girl. "Un" felt that she was the artist and Jay was teaching her the business. "Un" and Jay s---, they can say a song leaked or whatever but it was all over Charli Baltimore."
For those who don't know, Cam is referencing the infamous incident at New York's now defunct Kit Kat Club where Jigga stabbed Rivera. One rumor was that the altercation happened because Rivera leaked Jay Z's album, Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter, which gave us hits like "Izzo," "Guilty Until Proven Innocent," and "Dear Summer."
Either way, it led to Jay Z accepting a plea deal along with three years of probation.
It seems like a lot of rappers are pulling the curtains back on some of hip-hop's biggest mysteries of the past.
A few weeks ago Fat Joe and Diddy revealed who the unfortunate New York Knicks player on Biggie's 1997 song, "I Got a Story to Tell."
In 2001, Jay Z pleaded guilty to the charges of third-degree assault charge and was placed on three year's probation.
