Cam’ron and Vado brought their uptown antics to BET’s ‘Mo’nique Show’ Tuesday night (March 22), for a rare on-air interview and performance.

The duo, who are gearing up to release a collaborative album, entitled ‘Gunz & Butta,’ next month, were gracious guests and continually emphasized their Harlem roots to the impressed host.

“We come from Harlem, from the same neighborhood,” said Vado in an explanation of how he relates to Cam’ron. “I grew up on him, so I idolized Cam. I’m walking on air right now. To be honest with you, it’s a blessing.”

Cam’ron talked about his discovery of Vado and how he related to his local references and style immediately. Guiding Vado’s career has become a new test for the veteran Dipset rapper. Cam openly wants to progress into a role similar to hero executives L.A. Reid and Kevin Liles. His goal is to bring Vado even greater success than he had at his peak with Roc-A-Fella Records in the mid-2000s.

“I get a lot of artists that come to me and try to put music out,” said Cam’ron. “When I heard his stuff, I could relate to a lot of it because we’re from the same neighborhood. He might say, ‘United Fried Chicken,’ and I know where United Fried Chicken is at.”

Cam also updated fans on the Diplomats‘ comeback album, revealing that the record is now slated for release in December 2011. Post-interview, the duo performed their current Araabmuzik-produced single ‘Hey Muma’ for the studio audience.
