Brandy hasn't released any new material in quite a long time. And now we know why. The veteran R&B singer is suing Chameleon Entertainment, which she claims is prohibiting her from recording a new album.

According to Courthouse News, Brandy filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (March 29), accusing Chameleon Entertainment CEO Breyon Prescott of bullying her into signing a contract that will allow him to "double dip" into her earnings.

The 37-year-old singer claims that Prescott, who also works at Epic Records, wants her to sign a deal with Epic and release music through his label so he could collect profits from being the owner of Chameleon and through monetary bonuses he will get from Epic.

The suit alleges that Chameleon is contractually obligated to release more albums from her but they are refusing to do so unless she signs the "terrible deal."

Brandy is seeking $1 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Although she has terminated her contract with Chameleon, she wants a judge to rule her deal with the label as null and void.

Brandy's attorney, Allen Brodsky, says Prescott's "outrageous actions are based on nothing more than greed."

Lawyers for Chameleon Entertainment had no comment on the matter.
