Bobby Shmurda’s GS9 Associates Have Been Convicted of Murder

Rashid Derissant and Alex Crandon, two alleged associates of rapper Bobby Shmurda, have been convicted of the February 2013 murder of a 19-year-old rival gang member in Brooklyn, New York. According to radio.com,Crandonhave and Derissant are  members of GS9, of which Bobby Shmurda is also reportedly a member.

The two men were found guilty on charges of Conspiracy in the Second and Fourth Degrees, Murder in the Second Degree, multiple counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Assault in the First and Second Degrees, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree.

“As indicated by their verdict, the jurors in this trial heard evidence describing a cold blooded murder, wild gunplay and a terrifying disregard for the safety of innocent bystanders as the defendants tried to violently settle scores with rivals in New York City and beyond,” Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan said in a statement.

Bobby Shmurda, born Ackquille Pollard, is facing conspiracy, weapons and drugs charges after a December 2014 arrest.

His attorney, Alex Spiro, told The FADER that this verdict will have no bearing on Pollard's ongoing case. “No. Mr. Pollard was not present for or involved with any of the allegations in this this case.”

Incarcerated since that 2014 arrest, the hip-hop star has been fighting the case against him for months, and keeping his eyes on his career plans.

“When I get home man, it’s on,” Shmurda told VIBE in a phone interview three weeks ago. “When I got locked up, I saw how fast you could lose things. So now I regret a lot of things that I didn’t do quick enough because the label, unfortunately, wants to wait for certain things, or wait for this and that. But when I get home, I’m dropping stuff back-to-back. Videos back-to-back. Mixtapes back-to-back. I’m going to drop like four albums in a row. I’m going hard.”
