Did B.o.B Skip Out on a $1,060 Bar Tab in New York?
Seems like a B.o.B took off with his crew without settling a hefty bill at Cornell's collegetown bar in Ithica, N.Y. on Saturday (Sept. 17). But was it a brash brush-off or a miscommunication?
Cornell Sun reports that the rapper and his entourage consumed three bottles of $300 Grey Groose Vodka and racked up $160 in gratuity at a bar called Level B, then bailed, according to bar owner Brad Weiss. This lead to a server chasing after them in the street, bill in hand.
The waiter recalls that B.o.B's manager contested the bill, saying, "We're doing you a favor for not charging you ... When we go to clubs, we get paid to come.'" Meanwhile, the 'Nothin' On You' creator's team has contested the owner's story, saying that the waiter continuously offered them bottles and later apologized, telling them, "Don't worry about it."
The bar owner notes that the crew was given a complimentary bottle of champagne, reserved bar space and hour-and-a-half of priority service, but "None of us had any idea at the time that they did not expect to pay for anything." He also said that previous celebrity patrons Drake and members of the Gym Class Heroes "have always paid," and used the chance to burn B.o.B by noting that his visit didn't particularly bring in a bigger crowd.
So, was it a misunderstanding between parties or a miscalculation of fame?
