Last week, rumors spread that Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z, had some intriguing godparents. Oprah was said to be the newborn's godmother while Hov's longtime friend Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith would fill the role as godfather. While the latter may indeed have a link to baby Blue, it seems as though Oprah does not.

During an interview on Friday (Jan. 27) at CBS' 'The Early Show,' Gayle King, known for being Oprah's right hand woman, cleared up news that her best friend had earned the esteemed title of godmother of Bey and Jay's daughter.

"It's absolutely not true that she's the godmother," King revealed. "She's friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much. She's working on sending them a baby gift. She hasn't even had time to send a baby gift because she's been away."

Oprah hasn't come forward to quell the reports, but a statement from Gayle is just as good as coming from the famed talk show host herself. Inquiring minds still want to know who Blue Ivy's godmother is. Perhaps former Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland or Michelle Williams? Only time will tell.
