The Kendrick Lamar-curated Black Panther: The Album is currently the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

The collection, which features music from and inspired by the No. 1 global box office film Black Panther, moved 154,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release, according to Nielsen Music. Of that total, 52,000 are from traditional album sales.

Black Panther: The Album is the second soundtrack to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2018, following The Greatest Showman, which spent two weeks atop the list. Most of the project's sales came from streams with 93,000 streaming equivalent album units, which equates to 138.9 million on-demand audio streams. The rest came from traditional album sales with 52,000 from digital and 9,000 physical copy sales.

The Black Panther soundtrack features songs by Kendrick Lamar and his labelmates on Top Dawg Entertainment. The set's first single is "All the Stars" featuring K.Dot and SZA followed by "Pray for Me" featuring The Weeknd and Jay Rock's "King's Dead" featuring Kendrick, Future and James Blake.

Veteran producer !llmind, who produced the ScHoolboy Q song "X" (featuring 2 Chainz and Saudi) on the soundtrack, went on Twitter to thank the producers, artists and musicians who contributed to the project. He tweeted:
