Daily Detroit reports that Big Sean has donated $25,000 to Wayne State University in effort to help establish an endowment for the school’s HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher) Program.

The donation comes through the Detroit-bred rapper’s Sean Anderson Foundation. The HIGH Program, established in 2013, provides a variety of resources for students, including housing support, textbooks, school supplies, clothing, transportation and child care assistance. The site says the program’s goal is to help “financially stressed students at Wayne State University reach their goal to graduate.”

“The Sean Anderson Foundation’s investment in the HIGH Program shows their commitment to assisting those in need,” said a spokesperson. “With this gift, we will be able to help Wayne State students who are experiencing homelessness work toward a brighter future.”

Big Sean is no stranger to philanthropic efforts. Just earlier this year, following the national outrage sparked by the Flint, Michigan water crisis, the rapper created the Big Sean #HealFlintKids fundraiser, ultimately garnering $50,000 for those affected. Sean’s latest efforts will specifically be used to provide support to homeless students at Wayne State University. The cause is one that many people aren’t aware of, though reports indicate that student homelessness is a nationwide issue. Sean says he’s proud to assist in providing resources to help address the issue of student homelessness.

“We see the HIGH Program as an important component of ensuring success at Wayne State, and we are proud to help strengthen its mission,” Myra Anderson, president of the foundation/Big Sean’s mother, said in a statement, according to Daily Detroit. “We aim to boost graduation rates at the university by providing support to students facing hardship.”
