Big K.R.I.T.'s story is definitely one for the movies. The 25-year-old Mississippi-based rapper has never been one to pigeonhole himself, doing all of his own production on his projects from the start.

He set a standard two-and-a-half years ago with his debut digital LP, 'KRIT Wuz Here.' Earlier this year, he dropped his second offering, 'Returnof4eva,' which has also garnered quite a bit of critical acclaim. Then there was the disappointment of his first official Def Jam LP, 'Live From the Underground,' being pushed back to 2012, but the momentum is still there.

So when K.R.I.T. got the call from T.I. about possibly producing a track for his new project, he jumped at the chance. "T.I. reached out 'cause he'd been hearing the music," K.R.I.T. tells The BoomBox. "Of course, he was dealing with all that as far as getting out but as soon as he reached out, it was easy to make it happen. I sent the record, he immediately knew where I was trying to go as far as the beat is concerned and he killed it."

Last week, T.I. premiered the song, 'I'm Flexin'' featuring Big K.R.I.T. on Atlanta radio, but ironically enough, it seemed everyone except the producer-rap star was listening. "Actually, I didn't catch the premiere 'cause I was on a flight to Fort Lauderdale but I had mad people calling me and texting me to go on V103's site and check it out so I'm super excited," he shares. "It's going down."

Big K.R.I.T.'s major label debut album, 'Live From the Underground' is slated for release in 2012.
