In many ways, Big Boi and Converse are a match made in heaven. Both make classic products that have withstood the test of time and are undergoing a significant renaissance in recent years.

That's why it's no surprise that Mr. Daddy Fat Sax himself has linked up with the iconic shoe retailer to create his own pair of limited edition Chuck Taylors. The kicks pay tribute to the rapper's new album, 'Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.'

"We used to play basketball and tear our ankles up with all that jumping and running around," said Big Boi in a promo video. "The thing about Converse to me is they're classics. It's like an American classic. I mean, you know what they are when you see 'em. They'll always be the same. It might be a low-top, high-top. They might just change the colors, but you know what you get when you getting 'em. That's how I look at my music, the same way. Timeless classics."

The Big Boi kicks are high-tops and feature a crisp red, white and blue colorway. The outer shell of each shoe features part of his album title as well as some King-like Big Boi imagery on the tongues.

"It's a funky shoe and it's something people can collect rather than just wear...," he continued. "I wanted to do a limited release to keep it exclusive."
