Beyonce has spent recent weeks in the studio prepping tracks for her fourth album, but the singer and actress is also eyeing a lead role in the upcoming Clint Eastwood production 'A Star Is Born.'

Deadline reports that the 29-year-old entertainer is in talks with Warner Bros. to star in Eastwood's remake of the classic 1937 film. This would mark the fourth rendition of 'A Star is Born,' which follows the love story of a young Hollywood actress and an older actor. Janet Gaynor and Fredric March starred in the film's original version, while Judy Garland and James Mason lead the 1954 cast and Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson appeared in the most recent 1976 remake.

No further details have been revealed about the movie's cast, but rumored male lead roles include Robert Downey Jr., Will Smith and Jon Hamm. 'A Star Is Born' is tentatively on schedule for a 2012 release. Beyonce's most recent film credits include 'Dreamgirls,' 'The Fighting Temptations,' and 2008's 'Cadillac Records,' where she portrayed the character of legendary singer Etta James.
