Beyonce to Be Immortalized With Houston Monument?

While there's little danger of the world forgetting Beyonce -- the rare pop star famous enough to inspire her own college course -- Armdeonce Ventures isn't taking any chances. As My Fox Houston reports, the company is looking to build a monument to the singer in her Texas hometown, and if all goes according to plan, the grand unveiling could come in September -- just in time for Bey's 31st birthday.

"We've gotten support from the city of Houston, from the mayor," said Marcus Mitchell, who along with partner Steve White is spearheading the effort. "We're waiting for a very nice letter from the mayor right now."

The plan calls for a "massive hall" and "mini museum" -- complete with video and memorabilia -- devoted to Beyonce and her former group, Destiny's Child.

Despite Mitchell's claims about Mayor Annise Parker's support, spokesperson Janice Evans took to Twitter yesterday (Jan. 27) to deny any official involvement.

"Fox is wrong. The City of Houston is not behind, working with or having anything to do with an effort to build a monument honoring Beyonce," Evans tweeted, adding that Houston does "heart Beyonce and her music."

Mayor Parker might want to consider hopping on board. Various Houstonians interviewed by Fox seemed down with the proposal, and proceeds would reportedly benefit Beyonce's Survivor charity, Music for America, and the Grammy Cares foundation.

"A lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people why they're still here?" Mitchell said. "We felt as though it's her time to be honored."
