The battle rap community is mourning over the loss of controversial battle rapper Cadalack Ron. The Los Angeles-based rhymer passed away on Saturday (Jan. 23). He was 34.

The cause of death is currently unknown, but many are speculating that the rapper died from a drug overdose. Ron’s ex-wife, Sunny Hays, confirmed the sad news to theSource.com.

“Not only is he my ex-husband, but he’s my son’s father,” Hays said. “I’m sorry to say it’s true. We’ve been divorced for some time, but we have an 8-year-old son named Lion and he has another son Elijah Blue, who is 4. I am most devastated for him.”

Cadalack Ron, whose real name is Robert Paulson, was a renown rapper in the battle rap arena - especially for his crazy antics. Last October, at the Malcolm X Vs. Klansman battle, Daylyt shot Ron with a paintball gun, while, Ron tried to burn a gay pride flag to denounce the Klu Klux Klan. But in one of his most infamous battles, Ron allegedly pulled out a syringe and shot up in the middle of a performance. Although it was revealed that it was only Gatorade, the crude joke alluded to Ron's history of drug abuse.

It was no secret that Ron was a heroin user and he often rapped about his addiction to it during his battles. However, Ron reportedly had been trying to get off drugs and stay clean.
