Sneaker of the Week: BAIT x Asics Gel-Lyte III Nightmare

There are a handful of brands whose collaborative moxy can illicit a blind buy and one such company is BAIT. This time, they’re putting their magic touch on an Asics release that is meant to celebrate the Gel-Lyte III’s 25th Anniversary. The Nightmare sneaker is so solid that at first glance, we knew it deserved to be our Sneaker of the Week.

BAIT really gives this version of the silhouette very high-quality material, shifting its focus from luxury to performance. The upper includes snakeskin, fish scales and smooth leather layered against one another in a way that creates a tension released by elements like the granite midsole and translucent outsole. The model is rife with finishing touches including a leather lining and a co-branded outsole, which makes a statement in bold block lettering.

These are far from your average Asics Gel-Lyte IIIs and they won’t be easy to come by as a result. BAIT is going to release them exclusively at their retail locations on Sept. 26 through a raffle system.
