August Alsina vs. Janet Jackson – The Boombox Battle
August Alsina is a winner once again. For the third consecutive week, the R&B crooner has come out on top in The Boombox Battle. With over 63 percent of the vote, Alsina dismantled up-and-coming singer Bryson Tiller and his song “Exchange" in the competition.
Now the New Orleans native has a new challenger and a veteran winner of The BoomBox Battle: Janet Jackson. Her uptempo track, "Unbreakable," is a love song dedicated to die-hard fans who have stood by her throughout her indelible career.
"Faithful love that I will always keep first / My heart will never be hurt / Family that walks through fire for me / So I don’t get burnt / Fans and friends chime in / To a love that’s true blue / I dedicate myself to you," she sings on the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-produced track.
As for last week’s winner, Alsina is shooting for his fourth win with his boastful tune, “Why I Do It” featuring Lil Wayne. On the song, Alsina is unapologetic about staying on his grind and getting money and women.
"Back to the grind / I work so hard like I get paid overtime / But when I see the check come deep / Run up in the mall, buy the same thing three times / Call it foreplay / 'Cause when the h--s see me shop, you can see the panties drop / Runnin' up a check get them so wet," he croons.
Who will win this week? Will it be August Alsina's braggadocio track or Janet Jackson’s love letter to her adoring fans? If Alsina wins, he'll head to The Boombox Battle Hall of Fame. Go vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember, you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. ET.
