After watching August Alsina go off on BET's '106 & Park' when asked about his rift with Trey Songz, it's apparent the singer has no problem being honest. The candid singer, who's debut album 'Testimony' is out this week, talks about the project and reveals a few things about himself in an interview with Singersroom.

Aside from the release date of 'Testimony,' April 15 is also the birthday of Alsina's late brother, Melvin LaBranch III. The day is bittersweet due to his brother's passing, but it's also celebratory.

"It's a big deal to put out an album," the New Orleans native reveals. "A lot of people don't ever get to put out an album, a lot of people drop a bunch of singles and they probably disappear or whatever, so I'm happy that we finally reached this point and I hope that we grow every day. Good music and talent prevails."

Alsina has been releasing music for some time despite this being his first LP. And although he hasn't gained the same commercial success as others, he's more than happy just getting to do what he does. "I never cared about that, that ain't what it's about...," he shares. "It's real people out here that live real lives. You gotta give people a piece of yourself because that last longer."

Watch as the crooner opens up about his vulnerability on 'Kissin' On My Tattoos' and his self-awareness above.
