Aloe Blacc brought his unique brand of soulful singing to the 2016 NBA Finals last night. The acclaimed singer-songwriter took to the court prior to the Cleveland Cavalier's Game 7 win and proceeded to give an impassioned performance of "The Star Spangled Banner."

It was announced prior to the game that the Grammy nominee would be on-hand to perform a special rendition of the National Anthem as well as to perform at halftime.

Blacc is one of contemporary music's most distinctive voices; a soulful baritone that reaches back for an earthiness that sometimes seems hard to find in the digital age. An artist of his calibre performing on such a high profile stage is a win for music. So why was social media so tough on the guy?

"You know what #Game7 needs???? Aloe Blacc," tweeted one user. "SAID NO ONE ANYWHERE."

ESPN personality Jemele Hill got in a quick joke. "Have Aloe Blacc and Leon Bridges ever been in the same room together?" she asked humorously.

Others were happy to see Blacc get the shine, but there were lots of darts thrown and shots fired. What did you think of Aloe Blacc's National Anthem performance?
