“Shhhhhh. The Answer is back,” wrote the former 76er, referring to himself by his nickname.
Other ex-NBA stars who’ve already signed on to the league include Kenyon Martin, Mike Bibby, Jermaine O’Neal, Stephen Jackson, Jason Williams and Bonzi Wells, just to name a few.
Plus, Cube and his team of investors plan to put the games in a festival setting that will travel from state to state, city to city. On top of that, the league will be completely ran by the players without any outsiders, which is how the organizers seem to want it.
“The BIG3 is the American 3-on-3 professional basketball league, combining superstar players and fan interaction before and after the games, makes this an exciting live experience,” the league’s website reads. “The entire league is operated and managed by the players. No outsiders. No politics. Just highly competitive basketball played as it’s meant to be.”
As far as Iverson, his sheer star power should bring even bigger names into the fold, and networks like ESPN will probably be very eager to televise the games.
Clearly, Ice Cube had a brilliant idea with the BIG 3 league, and he’s bound to make a lot of dough.
