Alicia Keys to Release Special Edition of ‘Songs in A Minor’
When Alicia Keys released her debut album, 'Songs in A Minor,' in 2001, the R&B songstress captured the attention of eager listeners with her passionate vocals and honest lyrics. She went on to score five Grammy awards as a result of the seminal album's mass appeal. As the effort celebrates its 10th year on store shelves, Keys will re-release it as a special anniversary edition and collector's edition on June 28.
The 10th anniversary editions of 'Songs in A Minor' will revisit some of Keys' classic tunes from the album as well as new songs like 'A Woman's Worth' remix featuring Nas, 'Fallin'' the 'Ali' soundtrack version and previously unreleased songs 'Butterflyz (The Drumline Mix),' 'Typewriter' and 'If I Was Your Woman (Original Funky Demo version)'.
Fans will receive more exclusives with the Deluxe Edition two-disc set and Collector's Edition three-disc set that include special packaging and an enhanced booklet featuring new liner notes from Keys. Also, the Collector's Edition includes a documentary, created exclusively for this special release. The doc will include new interviews with Keys as well as with those who contributed to the album.
"It's incredibly surreal for me to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of songs in A minor," said Keys in a statement. "Looking back on the journey, I'm truly moved by my fans and friends who've been with me and have supported me throughout my career. This album is possibly the most precious to me, as your first album only happens once, and so 'Songs in A Minor' will always hold a special place in my life that's filled with amazing memories. I'm so proud that the songs are still being enjoyed around the world, and I'm crazy excited to share, through the 10th Anniversary Edition, songs never heard before, and even more of my debut album with you."
In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of 'Songs in A Minor,' Keys will perform an intimate concert at New York City's Beacon Theatre on June 30. The 30-year-old mother of one will tickle the ivories during the show, titled Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys. She will perform all 16 original tracks featured on her debut album.
'Songs in A Minor' originally sold more than 12 million albums worldwide. For the first time, a vinyl version of the original album will also be made available.
