Alicia Keys is no longer the Global Creative Director of Blackberry. The singer and smartphone giant have parted way after a year-long collaboration.

CTV News reports that the split appears amicable. "We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual," the company said in an emailed statement.

CNN adds that BlackBerry performed poorly over the past 12 months. The Blackberry 10 phones didn't sell to expectations and the company cut 40 percent of its workforce. "With such serious issues at hand, BlackBerry seemed to have little need for a celebrity creative director," says CNN.

The 'Girl On Fire' songstress herself faced negative press when it was reported she tweeted from an iPhone early last year. Keys claimed her account was hacked.
