Alicia Keys Wants You to Live Each Day to the Fullest on ’28 Thousand Days’

Alicia Keys is continuing on with the theme of getting the most out of life with her new single, "28 Thousand Days," which symbolizes the number of days that most people live.

"Yo, I read this ill article that said the average life is 76 years which equals 28,000 days. That made me think that I gotta live every moment to the fullest. What you gonna do to make the most out of today? We gonna do a song about that," the singer revealed in a video she shared on Twitter.

"If you had 28,000 days, who would you love? What would you celebrate?" sings Keys. "I'm telling you that life's too short to just throw it away / So have the time of your life."

The song has Keys' notable mix of piano and drums, but, instead of a signature R&B rhythm, it's more like a big band beat with the intonations of blues and rock.

It's been three years since she released her last album, Girl on Fire. But, the unveiling of this song seems to be the jumpstart of more to come. "I've been dyin' to share this new music with you! And this is just the beggining believe me!! We have so much to talk about! Live everyday like its your last!! ‪#‎28000Days‬," Keys tweeted.

But, this is far from the first time that the 34-year-old has created a song about carpe diem. On "Like You'll Never See Me Again," she talks about loving someone like it's the last day ("I don't wanna forget the present is a gift / And I don't wanna take for granted the time you may have here with me / 'Cause Lord only knows another day is not really guaranteed").

"Tell You Something (Nana's Reprise) is reminiscent of Kanye West's "Roses," where Keys tells her Nana that she wants to enjoy the time she has with her now ("Don't wanna wait to bring you flowers, waste another hour let alone another day").

"How It Feels to Fly" is about facing your fears if it means achieving your dreams ("If I could touch the sky, I'd risk the fall, just to know how it feels to fly").

And on "New Day," Keys sings about living each day like the new one that it is ("I celebrate mine, 'cause I ain't gonna get no more").
