Akon Pleads Guilty to Harassment Over Thrown Fan Incident

Akon has pleaded guilty to harassment after he tossed a fan off stage Wrestlemania style at a 2007 concert. The 35-year-old singer/producer entered a guilty plea to the charge of harassment in the second degree in a Fishkill , N.Y. court on Wednesday. Akon will avoid serving time behind bars as long he performs 65 hours of community service and pays a $250 fine.

The singer was originally charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a minor after the incident. Akon threw Anthony Smith off the stage when a spectator threw an object toward him during his performance. Audience members pointed the teenage boy out as the person who threw the item, and Akon called him up to the stage to eventually fling him back into the crowd.

Akon caused even more controversy months before the Fishkills incident when he simulated a sex act with a 14-year-old girl during a show in Trinidad.

The singer, reportedly, apologized to the Smith and his family before leaving the court. Akon's new album 'Freedom' is in stores now.
