Black History Month may be relegated to the shortest month out of the calendar year, but best believe it will be jam packed with African-American affirmations and sneaker releases. If you think the two have nothing in common, we'd like to point you in the direction of adidas' Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Black History Month Collection.

The drop houses four sepia-toned silhouettes that are all thematically inspired by different eras of Kareem's career. The adidas Crazy 8 holds it down for 1961 - 1965 with the theme being "Fundamentals are the Foundation for Excellence" while the adidas J Wall 1 goes with "Rules are What Make the Game Challenging," spanning the era of '65 - '69. The adidas D Rose 5 Boost purports that "The Hook Shot Is Worth a Thousand Words" by repping Jabar's reign from '69 - '75 and, lastly, the adidas D Lillard uses the mantra "When the Music Changes, so Does the Dance" to close out the set with the years '75 - '89.

The collection can be spotted on the court during the Martin Luther King, Jr Day games as well as during select games throughout February. If you're looking to cop, the Crazy 8 will be available on Jan. 23, the J Wall 1 and D Rose 5 Boost on Jan. 30 and the D Lillard on Feb. 26 at select adidas retailers.
