Watch ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ Teaser [VIDEO]

After what seemed like the longest road to making a film, we finally get a sneak peek at the upcoming Lifetime biopic, 'Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.'

The clip is very brief -- 15 seconds to be exact -- however, it gives fans a good look at the way actress Alexander Shipp embodies the late R&B singer.

Shipp is a spitting image of the 'More Than a Woman' songstress until she takes the shades off. She wears the artist's signature baggy pants, and even shows off her toned stomach -- just like Aaliyah did in her prime -- by wearing a sports bra.

The film, based on the biography by Christopher Farley, has been the center of much criticism during its creation. There was a struggle to gain the rights to Aaliyah's music and producers had to please her family, who initially were not happy with the movie. Then there was also the news that the original star of the biopic, Zendaya Coleman, backed out of the project.

'Aaliyah: Princess of R&B' premieres on Lifetime Nov. 15.
