Watch Aaliyah's Parents React to Her Marriage to R. Kelly in Lifetime Biopic Sneak Peek

What happened when Aaliyah's parents learned of her secret marriage to R. Kelly? A sneak peek from Lifetime's upcoming movie 'Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B' tells the story.

In the clip, the then-15-year-old singer, played by Alexandra Shipp, reveals the news to her mother and father with R. Kelly beside her.

"You did what?" Aaliyah's father asks angrily. "Believe me, I can image what you're thinking but I promise you it is not that way," says the actor who plays Kelly. A physical altercation ensues between the men and Aaliyah admits that she loves the much older Kelly. Her dad then questions if she lied on her marriage license.

'Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B' premieres this Sat., Nov. 15 at 8/7c. Starring Alexandra Shipp, the movie is executive produced by Wendy Williams. Wendy spoke to Billboard recently about why she became involved in the controversial biopic about the late singer. "Lifetime needed to tell this story correctly. Fans won't say, 'Oh, my God, how could you disgrace her memory?' And nosy people like me who want to find out things will also be fine."
