A Tribe Called Quest Announce 25th Anniversary Edition of Debut Album

A Tribe Called Quest continuously prove to be innovators in the music industry since their debut album, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, was released 25 years ago. In celebration of their quarter of a century anniversary, the group will release a remastered version of the trailblazing album along with remixes by some of "today's biggest hip-hop artist" on Nov. 13.

The release will be the first of many to come as the hip-hop plans to reissue their other classic albums like Midnight Marauders and A Low End Theory as well.

Members Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White were just teenagers when they recorded their first album, something Tip still takes to heart.

"I had this album in my head for years before I did it," said Q-Tip in a press release. "Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16 year old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived... But to see it in this incarnation ... I'm humbled."

Muhammad also had some words on his musical origins. "This album means a lot," he said. "It was the beginning of our careers; the beginning of our imprint; the beginning of seeing life the way we saw it, and being able to put it down in words and music."

Fans will have to wait a few more weeks to learn which new artists are featured on the upcoming project. But enthusiasts will be able to pre-order the album with "Bonita Applebum" and "Can I Kick It?" on Amazon soon. Also, peep the promo video for the forthcoming album below.
