Miguel Gives His Opinion on Frank Ocean: ‘I Make Better Music’

Miguel is known for his celebratory love odes and sensual mood music, but not R&B beef. However, that looks like it may change with a very boastful remark he made aimed at another highly respected artist.

The “NWA” crooner threw some shade towards the competition or according to him, lack there of, when he included Frank Ocean's name during an interview with the U.K.'s Sunday Times -- he ran into him in an London bar while the interview was taking place. “We’re, er, cordial. I wouldn’t say we were friends. To be completely honest -- and no disrespect to anyone -- I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around,” Miguel said in reference to the Channel Orange creator.

If you recall back in 2013, Miguel lost the Best Urban Contemporary Album Grammy Award to Ocean and there has seemed to be a rift between the two ever since. To make matters worse, the media had a field day after video surfaced showing Miguel refusing to applaud Ocean’s Grammy accolade.

Miguel released his third album, Wildheart, and the project is already receiving rave reviews. The comparisons to other artists come with the territory but the singer is confident that longevity is on his side -- even when asked about singers like the Weeknd. “It’s interesting… but we’ll see who’s in it for the long haul. It’s like a marathon, you know?" he states.

Only time will tell. Although we haven’t heard from Ocean since he dropped “Memrise” in November 2014. Apparently the "Swim Good" crooner has a new album on the way, which has a rumored July release date.
