6LACK continues his successful 2017, this time, performing live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Sporting a new, clean-cut look, the Atlanta singer performed the song “Free” from his debut album FREE 6LACK. Standing in front of a stack of monitors, the singer wowed the crowd with his vocals as he received some help from a live band.

The song takes a look at what it really means to be “free” and how sometimes the illusion of freedom is nothing more than that, a fantasy. It’s a lesson he’s trying to share with his girl, who thought she wanted to break free from the confines of their relationship, only to realize the grass isn’t always greener.

“You had just what you needed to be/Everything you want to be/But you’d rather run round these streets/Now you’re feeling freer than you’ve ever been/But really you feel trapped, no need to pretend,” 6lack croons hauntingly on the second verse.

6LACK has had a busy year, as he recently hit the road with The Weeknd on his North American Starboy tour.
