Tributes are still pouring in for Prodigy who unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday (June 20) in Las Vegas. Fellow Queens rappers like Havoc, Nas, N.O.R.E and others have paid homage to the late Mobb Deep rapper. 50 Cent recently honored Prodigy on his Instagram.

Back in 2006, Mobb Deep released their album Blood Money on Fif’s G-Unit label. So for the rap mogul, the loss of Prodigy deeply affected him. In his IG post above, 50 Cent detailed a crazy story of how the cops wanted Prodigy to set him up and put him in jail.

For those who don’t know, Prodigy was charged in 2007 for an illegal firearm possession. He was facing some serious jail time but the police offered him a deal -- help them set up 50 Cent and they would dropped the charges.

According to 50 Cent, police wanted Prodigy to plant a gun in his car. But Prodigy knows the street code very well and would never snitch on his friends. Instead, The Infamous rapper told 50 of the plan.

Prodigy recounted the story himself back in 2011 to VLAD TV. He said that ATF agents grilled him for hours about setting up 50 Cent. In the end, it shows how loyal Prodigy is to his friends. In the rap game, loyalty among friends are hard to come by.

"R.I.P. to Prodigy you will always be loved, and missed," said 50 Cent in another IG post. "God bless you and your family, I'm at a loss of words."

Rest in peace, Prodigy.
