Way before Drake and Meek Mill had their rap beef, 50 Cent and Ja Rule were involved in a war of words -- and fisticuffs -- back in the early 2000s. Well, the two veteran rappers are continuing their beef on social media.

It all started when Ja Rule went on Twitter today (Aug. 4) to poke fun at the current Drake and Meek Mill drama. The "Always On Time" rhymer felt their beef wasn't a real battle until someone either gets stabbed or shot, referencing his infamous March 2000 brawl with 50 and his crew at Hit Factory studios.

Ja later recanted his remark and tweeted, “All jokes aside I don't wanna see those guys get hurt I like both of them keep it on wax but stop comparing it to other beefs.”

Fif caught wind of the former Murder Inc. rapper’s remark and went on his Instagram account to respond. "Oh I heard what you said on the power 105 morning show, you f---ing punk. Everybody know I put your ass to sleep," he wrote.

Of course, Ja had to reply with an image of his own on Instagram, which featured 50 on the cover of GQ magazine with the caption, "How u doin...this ho has a lot of balls!!! Unfortunately she also has a p---- shut up before somebody put a d--- in ya mouth."

Now that wasn't nice.

If we learned anything from Drizzy and Mill's rap battle, it's all about the bars; it's not about who can post fancy pictures on Instagram.

In any case, we hope that 50 and Ja simmer down and move on with their respective careers.
