50 Cent Comes to Mister Cee’s Defense
50 Cent is defending disgraced radio disc jockey Mister Cee. The NYPD confirmed that the legendary Big Daddy Kane DJ and Hot 97 host was arrested while engaging in a sex act with another man and it has left the rap community reeling.
While entertainment figures like Howard Stern and rival New York radio personality Charlemagne Tha God have found humor in Mister Cee’s situation, 50 Cent, in an interview with Hot 97’s Miss Info on Monday (April 4), argued that the impact the DJ has made to hip-hop as a culture, far outweighs his lapse in judgment.
“It’s only entertaining because he means that much to hip-hop culture and his association to it,” 50 lamented. “I recognize Mister Cee as the guy who offered us Biggie, so he means that much to the culture. And a lot of the kids that hear the radio don’t see him the same way… When this type of stuff happens, you keep pushing… They can say what they want about it, how about if you say, ‘I’m Rick James, b–ch.’ How about if you say I don’t care?”
Cee’s legacy as a tastemaker and critic will live on, 50 Cent continued, regardless of the degree to which his reputation may be tarnished from the fallout of his arrest. “It’s not like there’s gonna be a nightclub that doesn’t call Mister Cee because of the rumor,” 50 said, optimistically.
The police document reports that Cee was busted in a car with a 20-year-old man who was performing oral sex. Cee continues to staunchly hold his ground, claiming that he is the subject of a conspiracy.
