In-demand rapper 21 Savage is now a member of the Epic Records family. The Atlanta rhymer revealed on the Rap Radar podcast that he inked a deal with the historic label, which is being run by veteran CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid.

When Savage was asked why he would sign with Epic Records, his answer was point blank.

"Because he's black," he said of CEO, L.A. Reid. "He's probably the last black CEO. Why not? He'll understand me before anyone else," he said according to The FADER. Although Savage didn’t discuss the particulars of the deal, the “X” rapper is in good company with Future, Diddy and DJ Khalid, among others on the roster.

Elsewhere in the interview, Savage gave props to Drake for being a dear friend. The two has recently collaborated on the song "Sneakin'." Last year, Drizzy gifted Savage a very expensive Ferrari his 24th birthday. "We been fuckin' with each other before Slaughter King even came out," he said. "Drake genuine. I feel like he's a genuine person."

Now that 21 Savage is one of the hottest rappers in the game, he has attracted plenty of friends and a few enemies. But he insists that he's not trying to rack up a stellar friends list, he's just trying to get this paper.

"A lot of n----s take it too far, like, this is just business. We can come together, do a song, that don't mean I have to look at you like my friend, 'cause I know n----s is fake," he states. "A lot of these n----s ain't real so I don't expect that from them. 'Ey, you hot, I'm hot, let's do a song, we gon' make this motherf---in' [money], know what I'm saying?"
