We know Kendrick Lamar can make friends with hip-hop heavies -- he counts Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa among his friends and collaborators -- but he also plays nice with pop stars. Just ask his good buddy Laga Gaga.

When the Compton rapper took the stage at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago on Sunday (July 16), Gaga was spotted cheering him on, Rap-Up.com reports. (Photos available here.) Later, she tweeted at the MC, following up on a July 4 post in which she thanked him for "calling me this morning to see how I'm doin."

"@kendricklamar ‪#womenweedandweather‬ listening to The Recipe. Can your new album come out now so i can go out to clubs and dance again," she tweeted, shouting out the Dr. Dre-assisted debut single from his forthcoming good kid m.A.A.d city album.

In an interview with TheSource.com, Kendrick said he and Mother Monster, as she's known to her legion of fans, are more than just passing acquaintances.

"That's a real good friend... a real good friend," Lamar said.

That naturally led to the question of whether they might collaborate.

"God willing ... for now I just like the friendship thing," he said.
