Fans waiting in line to witness Odd Future's Frank Ocean perform at Bowery Ballroom in New York City on Sunday night (Nov. 6) were disappointed when word spread that the New Orleans native would not step behind the mic.

Ocean was forced to cancel his show after the effects of a sickness put a strain on his voice. The 'Novacane' crooner explained the reasons behind his cancellation on his official Tumblr site, revealing that he was on antibiotics, received a steroid shot and yet, could barely sing when the time came for him to run through his soundcheck.

Saturday night (Nov. 5), he kicked off his intimate tour in his hometown of New Orleans, where he performed such 'Nostalgia, Ultra' gems as 'American Wedding.' Though he canceled his New York City gig, Ocean is set to grace the stage in Amsterdam (11/8), London (11/11) and Los Angeles (11/15), where he will round out his scheduled shows.

"New York is cancelled," he wrote. "or should i say postponed. i played last night in new orleans, on antibiotics and some other meds. got sick a cpl days before i left los angeles. woke up this morning in new york and could barely speak. called a doctor to my hotel, got a steroid shot. took some more meds. laid in bed allday till soundcheck, got to the venue and could barely sing any of my songs. im really sorry yall. i been workin on this show for months, did everything i could to make it special for yall. i'll be back soon as i'm healthy. thats my word. tickets will be valid for that, or you guys can get refunded. damn. this s--- sucks [sic]."
