The day after the birth of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's twins in Los Angeles on Saturday (April 30), the power couple had their marriage vows renewed by the Rev. Al Sharpton, while still in the hospital.

The Baptist minister, activist and radio-television correspondent said that, in addition to renewing their vows, he was also "very moved" at the couple's request that he bless their newborn boy and girl.

"I was very moved by Mariah and Nick's commitment to want their babies prayed over in their first 24-hours of their life and continue their annual tradition of renewing their marriage vows," Sharpton explained. "In a time where so many entertainment figures become captives of their success, their commitment to their spiritual life and wanting their beautiful twins born in that atmosphere is exemplary and worthy of admiration."

April 30 marks not only the birth of Carey and Cannon's twins, but also, auspiciously, their third wedding anniversary.

"The babies are simply a gift from God. I am very proud of Nick and Mariah," Rev. Al affirmed.

Before the birth, Cannon joked that he and Carey might be forced to renew their vows from the hospital, and it turned out he was correct. "Yep, we just had a wedding in the hospital," Cannon tweeted on Sunday. "Thank you to @THEREVAL who came all the way to the hospital to renew me and my wife's vows and pray with our children."

The couple have yet to reveal the names of their twins.
