RZA is ready to hit the small screen. The Wu-Tang Clan mastermind has been cast as a major recurring role on the hit Showtime series 'Californication,' with plans for the Rzarector to appear in the upcoming fifth season of the comedy.

The eccentric musician, whose real name is Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, will play a character named Apocalypse. On the show, his character will be "a slightly dangerous hip-hop mogul who Hank (David Duchovny) considers writing a movie for." Hank, the series' protagonist, is a famed writer who struggles with a mid-life crisis while trying to navigate his rocky familial relationships.

Though he's served as an integral member of the Wu-Tang Clan since its inception in the early '90s, RZA has dabbled in acting throughout his career. On the big screen, he has appeared in films including 'Due Date,' 'American Gangster,' 'Derailed' and more, and has produced soundtracks for the 'Kill Bill' series and TV show 'Afro Samurai.' His roles on TV haven't been as extensive, with only a few credits on NBC's 'Outlaw' and 'Chappelle's Show.'

He is currently focusing his talents on his directorial debut, 'The Man With the Iron Fist.' The film, produced by Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino, is based on a script by RZA about a blacksmith who must protect his villagers. The martial arts flick stars Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier and RZA too, and is set to hit theaters in December 2011.
