The wait for new music from 50 Cent is nearing an end as the rapper has finally locked down a release date for his next single.

50, who tweeted the news Monday morning (April 18), informed fans that sometime this week, they would have the first single off his long-delayed fifth album. "I'm putting my first single off my new album out this week. Nothing but heat," he wrote.

Since scrapping a couple concepts, it appears that the Queens rapper may be back on track with the release. After the disappointing sales of 2009's 'Before I Self Destruct' album, 50 went back into the studio to work up 'Black Magic,' which he says was inspired by his travels overseas.

"I'm already almost done," he proclaimed to the BoomBox last year. "I started writing something different once I got back from overseas that's what was on my mind before I got there and what I was actually doing while I was out there. Then when I got back I got all of this new production. It's almost like the producers were waiting for me when I got back 'cause they heard me talking about 'Black Magic.' They sent me all this material, they sent me in a whole other direction because it inspired me to write something different."

The album has since been pushed back, several times. Although it is unclear whether or not he will incorporate his original formula, or has totally scrapped the idea, 50 will once again incorporate film with his latest project. Similar to his previous album, which included a short film that he wrote, directed and starred in, the 35-year-old announced that he is writing a new movie to be released on the same day as the album.

'Black Magic' is due out this summer.
