Although he didn't sell the 2 million units that Lil Wayne was hoping for, Drake almost struck gold with his 'Thank Me Later' debut. According to Hits Daily Double, Drake sold 462,989 albums making him the top selling debut of the year, and placing him third in the year's top selling albums behind Sade and Lady Antebellum. "Thank you for the support ... thank you for the memories," he wrote via his Twitter page. "Thank me later."

Despite leaking to the 'net one week before it hit stores, the album still clocked impressive sales. Leading up to his release the Toronto native seemed unfazed by the early downloads, remarking that he has "given away free music for years." Proving their loyalty to Drizzy, fans came out in droves to his New York City concert that had to be canceled due to crowd control and safety concerns.

Since dropping his Grammy nominated 'So Far Gone' mixtape the 23-year-old has fast become one of hip-hop's most notable new faces. He most recently snagged two trophies at Canada's MuchMusic Video Awards and is scheduled to appear at this year's BET awards, airing Sunday June 27.
