The GameCompton emcee Game has pushed back his fourth release 'The R.E.D. Album' a few times, but it looks like the delays might not be voluntary moving forward. Desperado Entertainment, which claims to have helped launch the rapper's career, has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Aftermath Records, Interscope, Universal Music Group and Dr. Dre's ARY, Inc. to stop the release of his upcoming album. The suit claims that the former G-Unit member is required to share the publishing and licensing income from his albums and has violated that agreement by cutting the company out of the album's developments.

The lawsuit does not reveal who is in charge of Desperado Entertainment, nor does it reveal if Game is involved with the legal matter. But Desperado claims that it has made several attempts to work with UMG and its subsidiaries to iron out the financial details, only to be kept in the dark about key money matters.

The company alleges that UMG is only entitled to money from record sales and not from publishing earnings or royalties, which the suit attempts to recoup with an immediate $275,000 advance payment from 'The R.E.D. Album.' While the suit demands an injunction on the album, it also includes charges of unfair business practices, fraud/failure to disclose, negligent misrepresentation and breach of contract.

The album, originally titled 'D.O.C. (Diary of Compton),' was initially intended for release at the end of 2009, with the emcee beginning work on the project in May 2009. After switching the name of the album, Game has been hard at work on the effort, rapping over beats from The Neptunes, Jim Jonsin, Polow da Don,Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Kanye West and DJ Khalil and nabbing guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Akon, Gucci Mane, Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga, Nelly Furtado and Lil Wayne. Game released the first official single 'Ain't No Doubt About It' featuring Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams a few months ago, with plans to release a video in the near future.

Though the album might face another delay given the recent legal entanglements, 'The R.E.D. Album' is still slated for release on August 24.
