VH1 has had a roster of popular reality shows over the past five years that have done wonders for its viewership numbers, but the network plans to live up to an announcement made earlier this year that will shift their programming in a new direction. The network has teamed up with Queen Latifah for a new scripted series written by the actress/rapper titled 'Single Ladies.' The show will be produced by Latifah's Production Company Flava Unit Entertainment and will star actresses Lisa Raye McCoy, Stacey Dash and Lauren London.

The story line will revolve around the romantic relationships of three friends similar to The CW's 'Girlfriends' and HBO's 'Sex in the City.' Lisa Raye McCoy will play a spunky video vixen, Stacey Dash a stylist who recently became single, and Lauren London a younger semi-shy character married to an NBA player.

"When 'Girlfriends' got off the TV we didn't have anything else to relate to," said Lisa Raye. "This would be something else as a series so we can do more and be a little more risque."

Filming and rehearsals for the show began this week in Atlanta. Details have not been released yet regarding an air date.
