If you look at Jay-Z's song catalog, the list of guest features on tracks reads like a who's who of Grammy winners and A-list performers. There's Rihanna who appears most recently on Jay's 'Blueprint 3' track 'Run This Town,' which Hov opened his Friday night headlining set at Coachella 2010.

Rising from under the stage, Jay-Z would go through several other collaborative tracks -- 'I Just Wanna Love You (Give It To Me),' featuring Pharrell Wiliams, 'Empire State of Mind' with its Alicia Keys refrain, and even a cover of Snoop Dogg's 'I Wanna Rock' -- without his retrospective partners. And while it was rumored that the rapper would be bringing out several guest collaborators, including Dr. Dre, during his headlining slot, apart from his Roc-A-Fella buddy and forever hypeman Memphis Bleak, Jay-Z kept it simple and classy, putting the focus on his own rhymes and style. Well, that is until the second to last song of the night, where his wife Beyonce came out on stage and took over on Mr Hudson's 'Young Forever' refrain.

"I want you guys to do one things for me and that's stay this way forever," Jay-Z told the crowd before launching into the tune, that even included fireworks going off in the background. "One more time B... Sing it," he egged his wife on towards the end of the song. For her part, Beyonce sounded God-like, hitting each note and pitch perfectly. While it wasn't what people expected it was a pleasant surprise for folks.

"I'm really honored to be here tonight," Jay told the audience earlier, even giving a shout out to producer and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin. While he weaved in and out of his classic tracks -- 'Izzo (H.O.V.A.),' 'Hard Knock Life,' 'Can I Get A...' -- it was evident that Jay took a lesson from his days mashing up with rap-rockers Linkin Park. His hip-hop set teetered on hard rock at times, with a live band and guitarist who shred.

"What we're gonna do here tonight, instead of turning it up to 10 we gonna turn it up to 99." Jay-Z segued into '99 Problems.' Jay teased the crowd on 'Big Pimpin' saying they had to wave their towels and jackets in the air, before he could do it right.

"I know we gotta get of here, but I just don't want to leave tonight." After promising to do one more track -- the appropriately-titled 'Encore' -- Jay gave a shout out to all the other bands playing Coachella, naming Passion Pit, Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer.
