Lil WayneDuring Lil Wayne's recent interview for the March cover of Rolling Stone, his manager Cortez Bryant briefly mentioned that the team would consider Twitter as an option for the mad rapper to stay in touch with fans during his prison sentence. Wayne's Feb. 9 sentencing date was pushed back to March 2 so he could undergo dental surgery, but it looks like the launch of his Twitter account remained on schedule.

Wayne made his inaugural Tweet on Sunday night (Feb. 21), under the name @liltunechi, declaring himself a newbie to the social networking site. "I'm super new to this twitter s--- but wudup tho!.......follow me biota¢h....wudup mak.....happy bday LO.....8 days of freedom..my," he wrote. In less than 12 hours, Wayne's account picked up over 55,000 followers, and that count currently stands at almost 76, 000. Lil Wayne is following 10 Twitter users, which include Young Money members Mack Maine and Lil Twist. His second Tweet announced that he and Lil Twist were doing another live video log, similar to the one he recorded the night before his original sentencing date. Wayne used the video log to thank his fans for their support and to say good bye.

Lil Wayne will be sentenced on Mar 2 for charges stemming from a 2007 weapons possession arrest.
