Kanye West is apparently so serious about taking time off to deal with his "issues" that he's going to India. According to the rumor mill, the Louis Vuitton Don decided against attending the BET Hip-Hop Awards over the weekend, and is on his way to India instead. The 32-year-old will reportedly spend time in a Hindu retreat away from the glare of the paparazzi (hopefully) and any leftover backlash stemming from "Taylorgate."

Sources claim that West will stay in the South Indian town of Pondicherry, where he will attend a religious retreat known as Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Although these reports have yet to be substantiated, the Chicago-born rapper was spotted over the weekend in Los Angeles. The BET Hip-Hop Awards, meanwhile were taped in Atlanta on Saturday (October 10). Despite being nominated for nine trophies, West was a no-show at the event, and being noticeably absent from an awards show is certainly out of character for him.

Yeezy has attempted to maintain a low profile since bum rushing the stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and declaring Beyonce should have won the Best Female Video honor instead of Taylor Swift. West also pulled out of his highly anticipated 'Fame Kills' tour alongside pop phenom Lady Gaga. According to Gaga, the decision was mutual. "I'm not taking any time off," she said in an interview. "So I'll be leaving just a week later than I was supposed to on my own solo tour. It will be the same places."

Despite stepping out of the spotlight, West's second book will be published October 20 by Rizzoli. Featuring photographs by Nabil Elderkin, 'Glow in The Dark' chronicles his 2008 tour of the same name and includes a live CD and web-art video.
