Rapper 2 Chainz made a brief appearance in a Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday afternoon (April 8) in regards to his arrest on felony drug possession charges.

During the 2-minute long hearing, which was caught on camera by TMZ, the Atlanta native pleaded not guilty to possessing codeine, which stems from his arrest in June 2013.

As we previously reported, TSA officers at LAX allegedly found marijuana and a bottle of promethazine with codeine in one of 2 Chainz's checked bags. Codeine is one of the main ingredients used to make sizzurp, a drink commonly consumed by rappers and shown in photos on many social networking sites.

For 2 Chainz, this was a routine hearing and by him pleading not guilty, this will jump-start the case and his attorney will plan a strategic defense.

If he gets convicted on the charges, the rhymer faces three years in prison.

The 'B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time' creator's next hearing is scheduled for May 5.
