2 Chainz is out of jail after being locked up Tuesday (May 22) for possession of what authorities thought were brass knuckles but actually was a four-finger ring. The "Riot" rapper attempted to explain to police at New York's LaGuardia Airport that he wasn't holding a "weapon," however, they still took him into custody and even confiscated his gold jewelry.

"They tried to assassinate my character, they tried to assassinate my swag," 2 Chainz told MTV News after his release from jail on Tuesday. "It was just a negative dilemma earlier where someone misconstrued a piece of jewelry for a weapon and stuff."

The Def Jam signee was initially charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. 2 Chainz, born Tauheed Epps, eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser unspecified charge after spending nine hours in the slammer.

Though he never got the jewelry back, nor the Louis Vuitton case that he keeps his pricey pieces in, he's choosing to put the incident behind him.

"I don't find [jail] intriguing, you're supposed to make your mistakes during adolescent and use these times right here to kinda fix some of the things you did in the past so with me I'm doing Respect My Vote, I'm doing all kind of things to try to have some positive news," he shared.

The MC, who's currently on Drake's Club Paradise tour, will drop his debut album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, on Aug. 14.
