After a 15-year hiatus, R&B and neo-soul’s love child, D’Angelo, finally returned to the forefront with the surprise digital release of his third studio album, ‘Black Messiah,’ last month.

As fans waited restlessly for more than a decade for the follow-up to 2000’s ‘Voodoo,’ many couldn’t help but wonder if a successful comeback was even possible. But after listening to the new LP, it's apparent the singer hasn't missed a beat, delivering a solid effort with his band, the Vanguard.
